How to Point Your Domain to Cloudflare (Step by Step)

Cloudflare sits in front of your website to make it faster and safer — free. Connecting your domain takes about ten minutes.

Step 1 — Add your site

Create a free Cloudflare account and click Add a Site, then enter your domain.

Step 2 — Review your DNS records

Cloudflare scans and imports your existing DNS records. Check that your A record (website) and MX records (email) are all there before continuing.

Step 3 — Change your nameservers

Cloudflare gives you two nameservers. Log in to your domain registrar and replace the current nameservers with Cloudflare’s.

Step 4 — Wait for activation

It can take a few minutes to a few hours for the change to take effect. Cloudflare emails you when your site is active.

Step 5 — Turn on the good stuff

  • Set SSL/TLS mode to Full (or Full strict)
  • Enable Always Use HTTPS
  • Turn on caching and Brotli compression

That’s it — your site now loads faster worldwide and is shielded from common attacks. Need help? Just reach out to our support team.
