What is SSL?

SSL Certificates are fundamental to internet security. They establish an encrypted connection between a browser and a server, keeping your data safe. Whether you choose our free or premium SSL, you get the same strong encryption.

  • Establishes a secure connection between a browser and a server
  • Encrypts communication to protect sensitive information your customers provide to you
  • Places a padlock next to your web address in the browser
  • Authenticates an organization's identity

Domain Validation (DV)

Think of DV like getting a library card—no confirmation of who you really are, very minimal requirements to obtain and issued very quickly.

  • Verifies ownership and control of the domain name only
  • Issued in minutes
  • Maintains browser compliance
  • Ideal for non-critical web pages

Organization Validation (OV)

Think of OV like getting a driver’s license—more hoops to jump through than a library card but more trusted as a form of identification.

  • Enhanced validation including authenticating the identity of the applicant
  • Issued within one day
  • Maintains browser compliance
  • Ideal for more sensitive webpages such as login pages

Extended Validation (EV)

Think of EV like getting a passport—much more stringent processes, longer lead times and more verification of who you are than with a library card or driver’s license. Recognized internationally as the most trusted way to verify your identity.

  • Standards-based approach to authentication, representing the highest level of authentication for SSL Certificates
  • Typically issued within 1-3 days
  • Maintains browser and other industry compliance
  • Ideal for sensitive webpages including ecommerce, online banking, account signups

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our free and premium SSL certificates.

👉 Our Free SSL Certificate is powered by Let's Encrypt, a trusted and globally recognized Certificate Authority. It provides the same level of encryption (256-bit) as paid certificates. The certificate is valid for 90 days and can be renewed unlimited times at no cost.

👉 No! You can get our Free SSL for any domain, regardless of where it is hosted. You just need to verify domain ownership through either HTTP file upload or DNS TXT record — both options are available during the issuance process.

👉 You have two options: HTTP File Upload — download a verification file from your client panel and upload it to your web server at a specific path. DNS TXT Record — add a TXT record to your domain's DNS settings. For wildcard certificates, only DNS verification is supported.

👉 Yes! You can choose between Single Domain or Wildcard (*.yourdomain.com) during the order process. Wildcard certificates cover your main domain and all subdomains. Note that wildcard certificates require DNS verification only.

👉 Simply log in to your client panel, go to the SSL service, and click the "Renew Certificate" tab. You'll need to complete the domain verification again. We also send email reminders before your certificate expires so you never miss a renewal.

👉 Both provide the same level of encryption. The key differences are: Validity — Free SSL is valid for 90 days (renewable), paid SSL is valid for 1 year. Warranty — Paid SSL comes with a financial warranty (up to $250,000), Free SSL does not. Validation — Free SSL is Domain Validated (DV) only, paid SSL can be Organization (OV) or Extended Validation (EV). Trust indicators — Paid EV SSL shows your company name in the browser. For most websites, the Free SSL provides everything you need.

👉 SSL Certificates enable data encryption on the internet and allow data to be transmitted securely from a web server to a browser. With SSL, your website can use the HTTPS protocol and will display a padlock in end users' web browsers to indicate the connection is secure.

👉 SSL Certificates are essential for every website. They encrypt communication between your visitors and your server, protect sensitive data like passwords and payment info, boost your Google search ranking, and build trust with your customers by showing the secure padlock icon.

👉 There are 3 levels: Domain Validated (DV) — verifies domain ownership only, issued in minutes, ideal for blogs and personal sites. Organization Validated (OV) — verifies your business identity, issued within a day, ideal for business websites. Extended Validation (EV) — the highest level of trust, displays your company name in the browser, ideal for e-commerce and banking sites.

👉 A Wildcard SSL certificate secures your main domain and all its subdomains with a single certificate. For example, a wildcard for *.example.com covers mail.example.com, shop.example.com, blog.example.com, and any other subdomain — saving you money and simplifying management.

👉 After your certificate is issued, download the certificate file, private key, and CA chain from your client panel. Then upload them to your web server or hosting control panel (cPanel, Plesk, etc.). Most hosting panels have a dedicated SSL section where you can paste the certificate and key.
